I began my career in Barnegat Township Schools in 2006 as a special education teacher at the Cecil S. Collins School.  Previous to working in Barnegat, I taught both special education and general education in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as well as Springlake Heights, NJ.  I was able to find my forever home in Barnegat in 2006 and have come full circle, first as a Collins teacher and now as the Collins Principal. 

As a member of the Barnegat Community and as a proud Barnegat Parent, I share your dedication to making Barnegat Township Schools the best it can be! I believe in cultivating a love for learning though positive interactions with children and inspiring them to dream big.  They can be anything!  Collins school is just the first stop on the road to success.  

Welcome to Cecil S. Collins Elementary School to all students in kindergarten, first and second grades!   As the vice principal, I am excited to welcome you to our new school year.

Ms. Johns joined the Barnegat Township School District in 2010 and is committed to the district’s mission, students, families and the community for the past ten years.  She currently serves as the Elementary Assistant Principal at the Cecil S. Collins Elementary School, for grades K-2.   

Prior to her current assignment, she was the Vice Principal at Barnegat High School since 2010.  She was a principal, a vice principal and a social studies teacher for alternative education with Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission in various locations and schools in both Ocean and Monmouth counties, including on the Lakehurst Naval Base. 

Ms. Johns earned her MA in Educational Leadership from New Jersey City University and her BA in Liberal Arts and Education from the College of New Jersey.
