Monthly Focus Areas

Kindergarten

Reading-We continue reviewing letter sounds, blending sounds to read CVC words, memorizing sight words, writing a sentence with capital letter and punctuation. We practice writing letters correctly and recognizing letters by sight and putting them in alphabetical order.

Math-We work on counting to 50, counting by 10s, skip counting, adding numbers to get to ten, writing numbers, and recognizing numbers.

Grade 1

We continue to review vowel sounds, digraphs, and sight words. We are working on strategies to sound out words for reading and spelling. Students are learning to write 3-4 sentences about a given subject with correct punctuation and spelling.  

Grade 2

Continue to review vowel sounds, digraphs, finding character/setting/plot/main idea. We are writing paragraphs and learning how to self-edit.


Grades 3

We are continuing to discuss the Main Focus Skills (Authors Purpose, Main Idea, etc.) when reading.  We practice locating Information in Text, and answering an Open Ended Using RACE. Students are learning to Self-Edit.


Grade 4
