Birthday Celebrations: Children celebrating their birthday during the month invite a friend to lunch at the birthday table and receives a small present. PTA organizes list of birthdays, gift distribution, and table set up.
Bulletin Boards: the PTA decorates one or more bulletin boards throughout the year. Usually they are changed with the seasons, events, holidays and advertise our events to encourage school spirit.
PTA Movie Nights: Volunteers prepare flyer, organize movie selection, snacks, set-up and clean-up of event.
Hospitality: meetings and events that call for refreshments need food donations, table set-up and clean-up coordinated by PTA members.
Yearbook: This yearlong endeavor includes online training, coordinating picture collection from all parents, layout and design with printing company. Yearbook coordinator also includes the students input by running a yearbook club.
Beautification: *** Any seasonal decorating, flower planting, or school sprucing will be done by this PTA committee.
Ambassador :*** When events are held during school hours, greeters are needed to sign guests into building, distribute passes, and escort guests as directed by the main office.
School Store: Held each month, the school store circulates through the school day on a rolling cart, selling pencils, erasers and fun school items. Volunteers prepare flyer to be sent home, sell items and keep cart stocked.
Father’s Club:***Calling all Men! We need your muscle, grilling and cooking prowess, technical savvy with sound systems and computers, and watchful eyes as security, not to mention your point of view!
Balloon Specialists: *** We have a helium tank, balloons and ribbon…now we just need your talent. If you are willing to try your hand at decorating with balloons…step on up!
Science Fair: Volunteers coordinate with science teacher liaison, prepare flyer, set-up fair, break down event, and ensure that all entries and ribbons are returned to each student.
Fall Festival Vendor Craft Fair: This fund-raiser/community event offers a vendor fair and game night…something for everyone. PTA invites vendors & organizations to rent tables, advertises event, designs efficient and safe floor plan, and coordinates school tables and refreshment sales.
Basket Boogie: A gift auction and dance rolled into one. PTA solicits local businesses for basket items to raffle, and hosts a dance for the children complete with snacks and drinks.
Pictures with Santa Claus: Volunteers prepare flyer, rent costume, decorate room, organize refreshments with hospitality committee, take pictures, print and distribute pictures and break down event.
Pictures with the Easter Bunny: Volunteers prepare flyer, rent costume, decorate room, organize refreshments with hospitality committee, take pictures, print and distribute pictures and break down event.
Night at the Races: *** Potentially a district wide event, this evening is previously broadcast race dvd to wager on.
Ice Cream Bingo: *** Fun for the whole family including make your own sundaes and bingo.
EVENTS DONE LARGELY FROM HOME
Entertainment Book Sale: This fundraiser calls for volunteers to distribute books with letter to parents to each classroom, manage returns and payments received, and communication with company.
Spiritwear: Volunteers organize flyer/order form to be sent home, process and submit orders and organize distribution of sales. This includes sales at school events including back to school night, etc. Items sold include tee shirts, shorts, sweatpants and sweatshirts, lanyards, etc with Collins logo and mascot.
Genuardii’s Escrip Program: This ongoing fundraiser invites parents to register their Genuardi:s savings card either online or through a form sent home. Genuardi’s gives a percentage of all purchases back to the school.
Box Tops/Campbell’s/Tyson’s/CapriSun: Set-up collection containers at school, empty containers and mail out to companies to receive compensation.
Teacher / Staff Appreciation Week: Held in May, volunteers organize a week to honor and celebrate our faculty and school staff. This week usually includes a breakfast, lunch, and gifts.
Display My Art: Held in time to be used as Holiday gifts, children’s artwork is offered on various items, including mousepads, coasters, aprons, tea shirts and tote bags.
Restaurant nights: These fundraiser events involve preparing invitation flyer for families to dine at cooperating restaurants like Fridays, Burger King, Applebees, etc. These restaurants give a percentage of all sales to school. Volunteers work event, include children with a sign-in poster, and involve teachers who volunteer to be present.
Reflections: A National PTA contests for the music and arts. Children submit projects including music composition, choreography, painting, drawing, visual arts, photography film production, literature, related to a designated theme. PTA members select school’s winners that will then move on to compete on the county, state and national levels.
Random Acts of Kindness Week: Throughout a chosen week, activities are organized to raise awareness for treating others kindly. PTA organizes these activities to be implemented by the faculty during school hours.
EVENTS HELD DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
Field Day: This spring event is a fun day for children, with games and contests. Each grade is given a time during a school day to play the games and enjoy some fun time with each other. Parents volunteer to help with the games and keeping children organized.
100th Day: Volunteers prepare goody bags for the children and decorate the school.
Mother’s Day Sale: this event allows children to shop during school hours. Volunteers coordinate flyer design and distribution, shopping for sale items, setting up sale, working sale, breaking down event & returning or storing leftover items.
Father’s Day Sale: this event allows children to shop during school hours, Volunteers coordinate flyer design and distribution, shopping for sale items, setting up sale, working sale, breaking down event, and returning or storing leftover items.
Halloween Parade: In coordination with school parade, PTA will arrange trick or treat stations for children, music, and fun.
5th Grade Event and tee shirts: As the 5th graders prepare to leave Collins, they are given a day at Eagleswood, and a class t-shirt. Volunteers coordinate bus, Eagleswood tickets, tee shirt design and party at school for when they return from Eagleswood.
Pumpkin Patch: This fall event includes preparing a flyer, decorating for event, purchasing and arranging pumpkins, and working and cleaning up sale.
Fall Walkathon: This fundraisers involve preparing a sponsor sheet for children, coordinate refreshment donations from parents, and set up refreshment stops for children.
School Pictures: Volunteers work with photographers to organize children and ensure that all children are photographed.
